USA Basketball Looks Unstoppable, Cruises Past Greece By 23

Kobe Bryant and Chris Bosh each scored 18 points, and Dwyane Wade tallied 17 as the Reedem Team pounded Greece, 92-69, in Group B play.

The Greeks gained confidence from the 2004 Olympics, losing to the United States by just a 77-71 score, and they then took it to the Americans by shocking them 101-95 in the in the semifinals of the 2006 FIBA World Championship.

It was a much different story on Thursday, as the U.S. rolled to its third win in as many contests thus far in Beijing…and they’ve all been by large margins. The Americans squashed China, 101-70 in their opener and then took down Angola, 97-76 on Tuesday.

LeBron James tallied 13 points for the U.S., which used solid defense to force 25 turnovers. Wade came up with six of the 15 steals for the Americans.

Theodoros Papaloukas had 15 points and eight rebounds to pace Greece, while Vasileios Spanoulis chipped in 14 points in defeat. Greece shot 41.3 percent from the field.

The U.S. next will take on fellow unbeaten Spain in its next game, Saturday night.
